I’d say that I’m already quite skilled as an illustrator so I would like to branch off into multiple different mediums such as sculpture, painting, and digital art. My goal is to improve my technical abilities while pushing myself creatively at the same time

Creative Process

Grime art found its roots in 1919 with French artist Marcel Duchamp when he painted a goatee on the Mona Lisa and titled it “L.H.O.O.Q.”. This readymade style of art was popularized by street artists who now use bright colours and bold lines on top of magazine or digital images. For this project I decided to do a portrait of Yvie Oddly as I really appreciate her alternative style of drag

For this project we had to make photograms, traditional photograms are silhouettes made by exposing photosensitive paper to light, however, due to a lack of funds we had to create this effect using light tables. I chose to title this piece “Atteinte” (french for reach), the hand stretching upwards symbolizes humanity’s never ceasing reach for divinity, symbolized by the singular angel feather

My mask was inspired by the films Silent Hill and Hellraiser, with the wires protruding from the mask representing repressed feelings that come erupting outwards in a very disheveled and disorganized manner

Graffiti Unit

A tag is a graffiti writer's personal signature and is used to spread the writer's name. The 2 main pioneers for tagging are Cornbread, Philadelphia 1965, and Taki 183, New York 1967. Tags are mostly considered vandalism as they are placed on every surface possible. I chose my tag, Vibin, as it's a phrase I use a lot to describe my mood. I kept my tag fairly simple and just added a bit of extension to the outer letters as well as some add-ons above and below my tag.

A throw up is a quickly drawn piece of graffiti consisting of 1-2 colours. The purpose of a throw up is to cover as much area as possible as quickly as possible, for this reason throw ups are usually considered vandalism. The writer that developed this style was Phase 2 in New York, 1973. The popularization of spray paint in the mid 1970's allowed for this style to take off.

A piece, short for 'masterpiece', is a complex piece of graffiti that incorporates original lettering and multiple colours. Respect for a piece somes from the quality, style and originality of the piece. Pieces are art because they take a lot of time, talent and creativity to paint. I used a cool vs warm colour scheme because I used a warm colour for my throw-up and a cool colour scheme for my blockbuster.
